"Clinical Challenges in the Treatment of People from Atypical Subcultures"
Dr. Anne Bartek will discuss clinical challenges in the treatment of people from atypical subcultures. Her talk will use clinical material from her work with a particular subculture to inform a discussion on countertransference and boundary issues that may arise when working with such patients.
Anne Bartek, M.D is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Nashville. She completed her undergraduate and medical studies at the University of Michigan prior to completing a medical internship and starting a family. She has worked in student health at Virginia Tech prior to completing psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt. She completed psychoanalytic training at St. Louis in 2002. In addition to her private practice, she teaches psychotherapy to psychiatry residents at Vanderbilt. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses.
