Throughout many therapy training disciplines, there is less focus on the teaching and technique of psychotherapy supervision. In his discussion, he will show a video of supervision of a psychiatry resident with focus on different approaches to supervision, decision points in supervision, and the use countertransference and parallel process information. He hopes to encourage a discussion of how various providers approach supervision in different contexts.

Dr. Phillips is an early career psychodynamic psychiatrist and psychotherapist in private practice in Nashville, TN, and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University.
